The experiments evaluated the effects of serine protease inhibitors on the ability of human endothelial cells to upregulate the expression of surface adhesion molecules (ICAM, VCAM, ELAM) and Major Histocompatibility Complex antigens (HLA-DR). Endothelial cell expression was determined by flow cytometry.
