We are proud of our physicians and all the fantastic work they do in our community. Over the next few months, we’ll be featuring interviews starting from our newest physician about life outside of the office.

This month, Dr. Matthew Ward is our September 2017 Physician of the Month. Dr. Ward has been with SERO since July 10, 2017.

Tell us about your family.

I’m a husband and father of 2 kids, ages 2 and nine months. My wife was a neonatal ICU nurse before having children. We met while we were both living in Augusta, GA and went on medical mission trips to Trinidad and Ethiopia.

Meet Matthew Ward, MD,

What do you and your family enjoy doing when you are away from work?

Most of our time currently is spent taking care of our children, but when we have time we enjoy being outdoors, camping, snow skiing, water sports, travelling, spending time with friends and being active in our church. When my daughter was 11 months old, we took her rock climbing and camping in West Virginia.

I am a big Georgia Tech football fan, through both the good and the bad. While in Cleveland, OH I became a Cavaliers fan, and therefore I can’t stand the Golden State Warriors despite my brother living in the Bay area.

Are there any other interesting facts you would like to share?

One interesting fact was that I was a drum major in the Georgia Tech marching band, but don’t ask me to do any back flips.
