Welcome Jennifer Smith, SERO’s Newest Advanced Practice Provider

Since 1977, SERO’s compassionate medical professionals have provided high-quality care to the Charlotte metro area. This month, advanced practice provider Jennifer Smith joins the team, bringing more than a decade of experience to our patients.

Smith comes to SERO after serving the Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory, where she was responsible for managing a panel of patients throughout their hospitalization. She also rotated through the pulmonary critical care unit every six weeks and offered as-needed coverage for other services including infectious disease, general surgery, and the occupational health clinic.

Having always been “inspired to work in healthcare,” Smith earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Clayton State University in 2008. After supporting patients in intensive care units at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Southeast Alabama Medical Center, and Frye Regional Medical Center, Smith yearned to have a “greater impact on patients’ care and outcomes.”

As such, she pursued her Master of Science in Nursing from Troy University, graduating in 2014. She subsequently worked as a family nurse practitioner with Carolinas HealthCare System Blue Ridge, overseeing an independent panel of chronic and acute illnesses at a family medical practice and at Urgent Care.

Smith says aiding recovery is “humbling.” She looks forward to connecting with the patients at SERO, providing comfort and care so that each individual’s radiation therapy is as effective as possible.

“I enjoy helping people,” says Smith. “The ability to help during one of the most vulnerable times in life — when health is compromised — is an especially rewarding experience.”
