Charlotte Magazine Top Doctors 2023

At SERO, we’re lucky to work with some of the best doctors in Charlotte, NC and the top radiation oncologists in the nation. Charlotte Magazine has consistently named SERO physicians as top doctors in Charlotte year after year.

Charlotte Magazine is one of the most well-respected publications in North Carolina, providing community members with the most reliable recommendations on food, sports, local news, and in addition, doctors. The annual Top Doctors in Charlotte list is collected by Castle Connolly, a national surveyor of Top Doctors, and this year’s list for Radiation Oncology was entirely comprised of SERO doctors.

These results highlight our community’s appreciation for our consistently excellent radiation oncology services, and we are incredibly proud to have our doctors named to this list in 2023.

William E. Bobo, MD completed his undergraduate education at Auburn University, then studied at Emory Unviersity for his Doctor of Medicine, where he remained as a resident. He has been employed by the Centers for Disease Control, the SmithKline Beecham Clinical Laboratory, and the Rock Hill Radiation Therapy Center, now serving as Medical Director of Pineville Radiation Therapy Center. Stuart H Burri, MD began his education at Wake Forest University and completed his medical education at Emory University School of Medicine in 2000, where he served as Chief Resident. He has served as a past chairman for the Brain Tumor Fund for the Carolinas and has been a doctor at SERO for 20 years. His passion is cutting-edge, precision radiation therapy that helps cancer patients fight a disease that traditional treatments may not have been able to help. Learn more about Dr. Burri here.

Carolina Elizabeth Fasola, MD completed her undergraduate education at Vassar College in New York prior to completing medical school at Emory School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. During her time there, she also earned a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and Global Health from Rollins School of Public Health. After this, Dr. Fasola went to the West Coast and completed her residency in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Stanford University. There, she was also named Chief Resident. After her time out West, she returned east and joined SERO, serving patients at Levine Cancer Institute Main. Learn more about Dr. Fasola here!

L. Scott McGinnis, MD completed his undergraduate education at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN with a B.A. in English/French. After this, he completed medical school at the Medical College of Georgia. He went on to complete his Residency at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Since joining SERO, Dr. McGinnis has also served on the American College of Radiology Guidelines and Standards as a member of the Committee on Radiation for two years. Roshan S. Prabhu, MD comes to Charlotte by way of Florida. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Florida and stayed at the school to complete his medical school education at their College of Medicine. During his residency at the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Dr. Prabhu earned his Master of Science in Clinical Research (MSCR) and was elected Chief Resident in Radiation Oncology. He came to Charlotte and joined SERO, serving the citizens of Charlotte at the Levine Cancer Institute Main. Learn more about Dr. Prabhu here!

Hadley J. Sharp, MD came to Charlotte through Nebraska. She completed her undergraduate work at Creighton University and remained in Nebraska for medical school, earning her medical degree from the University of Nebraska. During her education, Dr. Sharp volunteered her time to clinics for non-documented Americans and spent one of her spring breaks supplying basic healthcare to children in Nicaragua. After finishing her residency at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Sharp moved to Charlotte and joined SERO, practicing at Levine Cancer Institute, University City. Vipul V. Thakkar, MD began his studies at the University of Miami, finishing up his medical education at the University of Florida in 2001, where he was part of the Alpha & Junior Honors Medical Program. At the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, he completed both his residency and a fellowship in Brachytherapy, Stereotactic Radiosurgery and Body Radiotherapy. He now spends his time in Rock Hill, SC where SERO’s ACR-accredited center has consistently ranked highest in patient satisfaction. William B. Warlick, Jr., MD is a North Carolina native who completed his undergraduate education at Davidson College. He relocated down South to pursue his medical education at the Medical College of Georgia before moving west for a residency in Utah. During his time with the Department of Radiation Oncology at University of Utah Hospital, he was elected Chief Resident. Dr. Warlick then returned to Charlotte, joining SERO and serving patients at Novant Health Presbyterian Hospital. Learn more about Dr. Warlick here!
