What to Expect With Radiation Therapy
Radiation therapy is a cancer treatment that uses beams of radiation to kill cancer cells and shrink malignant tumors. As the most common form of cancer treatment, radiotherapy is highly effective and often painless.
If your cancer treatment plan includes radiation therapy, a radiation oncologist will determine what type of radiation you should receive and for how long. Many patients receive radiation therapy five days per week for five to eight weeks. These sessions typically last 15 minutes and are much like receiving an X-ray. Learn more.
